About Kathi Kuti's creations:

Seamstress

Trixie
by Kathi Kuti

These small creatures are detailed and diverse. They each have a story to tell, and each of these figures captures Spirit freely flowing. They are fully engaged in life. They do not represent any particular historical period. The inner self is universal and eternal, neither culture nor time bound.

Each one is the essence of who they were meant to be by their creator. Kathi Kuti, the Canadian artist who formed these one-of-a-kind originals, sculpts a number of faces at one time and then takes cues from the face as to the spirit and nature of the figure. The face tells her a story that carries her into the creative process. Although she is widely read in fairy tales, literature and legend, she does not set out on the creative process with a finished character in mind.

Kathi had been a successful watercolor artist for over twenty years when she returned to an interest in making dolls that she had loved doing as a young girl, her grandmother teaching her to sew, embroider, quilt and fashion cloth dolls. Her little sculptured figures are whimsical, charming, colorful and expressive.

You will love the beauty, treasure creativity and see spirit in all that Kathi does.
